It has become more and more common for people to use ballet barres for general exercise. Wheter it be for general stretching, pilates or other such uses.Â
I am a sales representative for a company that sells, among other things, ballet bars. A customer recently inquired about using our ballet bars for pilates bar method. Because this type of inquiry has become more and more common, I thought it might be a good idea to share the answer with everyone.Â
While our Ballet Barres are designed for dance and therefore a light amount of pressure on the bar, we do have many people that purchase additional brackets to provide more support for multiple users exerting their weight on the bars.   For example, our standard 10′ Ballet Bar comes pre-drilled for two brackets, which would suffice for ballet as stretching and balance are really the main functions for the bar.  However, many of our customers have purchased a custom drilled 10′ bar and get up to 5 brackets which provides considerably more support. Â
While most of our products have certain intended uses, there are lots of ways that our customers have gotten creative to meet their particular needs, not just our ballet products, but other things like our folding mats as cheaper alternative to protective wall panels or our anti fatigue mats on the wings of airplanes for the maintenance crew, our gymnastics landing mats as crash mats for rock climbing walls are also common requests.
