Luckily for our customers, we do our best to navigate them through the various pros and cons of anything from 3/16″ PVC yoga mat vs the 3/16″ natural rubber yoga mat or 1-3/8″ thick crosslink vs 2″ thick. This,
however, can’t guarantee against the guiles of a stubborn customers who despite their best intentions and frugality do come into play in our daily routine.
Our SoftWood flooring is one of our most popular items and one of the ones surrounded by this exact kind of issue. A soft EVA foam with a nice laminate top emulating various wood tones like cherry, walnut, and two shades of oak are a perfect additions as kids playroom flooring, a family room in the basement, or most commonly, display booths at trade shows. This is where it gets ‘controversial’. While these tiles are very durable, a trade show has higher than normal amounts of actual foot traffic. A good portion of this foot traffic can be women’s (or men’s… we don’t discriminate) heels. While it depends on the type of heel and the person walking on it, we stress that THEY CAN but won’t necessarily leave an imprint or permanent indentation. In the worst case scenarios (happens less than 1/100 times!), a tile might even get punctured. It’s stressing these kinds of points to our customers and having an honest dialogue, as opposed to just driving a sale, that really makes a customer feel comfortable making a decision to purchase something online from a person across the country they can’t even see.
One of our recent customers, Allan from Picaboo Yearbook, just sent me this today:
“Hi there, Love the [trade show flooring] floor, it is a great compliment to our booth. I think I may have sold 2 more floors for you to other exhibitors. I gave them your company name. Thanks for your help!”

THIS IS AWFUL… I know… all I’ve thought about the past month has been moving… and now that we moved (earlier than expected as a result of misunderstandings with our landlord), it seems the worst of it is over. Now the sun seems to be coming up figuratively and literally, it’s warming up! Finally… all this 50 degree weather was beginning to be an icicle in my… well, you know… life. I guess, now, it’s okay to get off that zafu pillow and bust out my outdoor yoga mat.
The warm weather is encouraging my girlfriend, me, and well, it seems everyone, to get up and go outside. Put away those video games, young padawans, it is time to venture into the outside world! Sun, trees, grass, and beautiful bodies (of water) await your curious eyes!
If you’re like me, I bet you can “bearly†stand eating alone. So “bear†down, find your Mexican blankets, pack a picnic, bring a friend, bring the whole family, and even the dog because in Southern California sunny weather means sunny disposition. That is unless, of course, you are allergic to grass. Or pollen… or the sun… or people.
Hmmm… didn’t think that one through now did we. Not a problem though!  I’m sure we can improvise some use from our gigantic warehouse full of mats and goodies to work for us. A towel is not only tacky and soooooo 90’s to lie down on grass at the park, it’s also not entirely comfortable. Try a multi purpose mat like our tote-n-mat instead. What if you’re sun bathing? Well you can certainly use a folding exercise mat. Comfortable enough for the home or the park, these UV treated vinyl mats will suffice for outdoor use for you and your loved ones to lay around and bask in glorious, nurturing sunlight!

Posture is an often overlooked and easily correctable cause of back and neck pain. Speaking from personal experience, it can also be the difference between a lasting first impression or an awkward and hopefully forgettable moment with a cute stranger of the female variety. Certain people that I have noticed have a bigger tendency to slouch or have this S-shape posture (chest in, gut out, and neck down) are gloomy teenagers, long-haired beat-nicks, and just about ANYONE that sits in an office chair 8 hours a day. I can’t even begin to tell you how much easier it was to stand up straight when I moved boxes in a warehouse.
A simple trick to get you to cock up that chest and drop your shoulders is by literally restricting the exact posture that encourages your muscles to rest at such positions. A yoga bolster
or comfort pillow
can help when used properly. Place the yoga bolster or comfort pillow on the lower backside of your back between the back rest and your back on your office chair. This can help by forcing you to lean back towards your chair and make you drop your shoulders. Also, proper stretching in the morning and the evening can help greatly with the office-workout stress on your muscles with some simple stretches. Using yoga mats
or any type of exercise mats
when stretching makes it much more comfortable.

Unchecked male aggression is one of my pet peeves. All the macho with none of the class. When our reptilian brain beckons daily to just eat and breed, it’s no wonder the addition of entertainment on demand to our latest generation of teens and pre-teens can help provoke some of our less self-disciplined cubs to bully, steal, or just be all around jerks. Not only that, but add the pressures of social expectations in the face of adversity for many and you have a recipe for what seems to be a never-ending news feed of disenfranchised youths taking to recreational drugs, a stance against critical thought and educational institutions of any sort and in the worst cases, violence towards others.
I recently spoke to a customer who is working in the one of the poorest counties in the state of Kansas and is taking it upon himself to start a free youth wrestling program. His program is aimed at teaching kids discipline, poise, and most importantly, self-control through the likes of wrestling mats. I couldn’t help but be a bit moved by the idea given that when I was growing up, programs like that greatly affected me and really did keep me deterred from expressing my more troublesome tendencies in an outwardly destructive ways.
Now I was never very athletic, but I distinctly remember how after-school programs that offered Tae Kwon Do, soccer, and even roller hockey, offered an alternative to the pressures of being a teenager in a low-income neighborhood where aside from staying indoors playing video-games and listening to music, there was little incentive for the ‘nerdy’ kids to go outside and socialize. Through a little positive influence and motivation from young adults such as this customer and mentors, kids can turn to martial arts, wrestling, exercise, and even using yoga products (which I have seen more and more recently especially here in Southern California) to make new friends, stay active, healthy, and build confidence and self-discipline.
MatsMatsMats.com is always happy to offer additional discounts to various local and volunteer funded programs on just about all our inventory from martial arts mats or exercise flooring to a yoga mat or meditation products. If you, much like many of these mentors and willing individuals, wish to make a difference in your community, give us a call and we’d be more than happy to help. While generally we don’t have second-hand items or donations available, we offer highly competitive pricing and might even be able to point you in the right direction if we don’t have exactly what you are looking for.

“I just watched George Harrison: Living In The Material World this week. Not only is it an awesome documentary, but it goes into great detail on George’s transformation from rock and excess extraordinaire to contemplative, meditative, universal traveller. While it touches on all aspects of George Harrison’s life, the details of meeting, along with the other Beatles, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi stuck out to me the most. Not just because there are sequences in the film where it ‘looks’ like they’re using a silk meditation cushion
of ours (the footage is from ‘67 and I don’t think the owner’s of the company were born yet or were in diapers at the most), but because they make an excellent case for the merits of meditation outside of the realm of “mysticism†or “new age†philosophies which, in and of themselves, can carry a sort-of smeared image due to too many late night whackos offering enlightenment for 4 easy payment of $19.95.
In any case, if you are looking to get into ‘that space’ of thoughtlessness (VERY different from alcohol induced carelessness), our mediation pillow
selection and our meditation cushion
are excellent tools for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. Our silk varieties even have beautiful ornate patterns if the ambiance is essential to get into that zone (or should I say zen state). We also offer yoga bolster
choices (great for other positions outside of lotus), blankets, or even silk eye pillows
if you’re like me and have a hard time keeping your eyes closed or still from fidgeting. If you have never attempted controlled meditation, I highly recommend you take time from your busy schedule to find a quiet, comfortable space, and BREATHE DEEPLY, recite your mantra (it’s different for everyone) and enjoy the bliss of pure thoughtlessness.“

The end of 2012 is quickly upon us. Now if you are thinking of partaking in the annual festivities (and you know you are) then you may need some pillows and comfort products to ease you through that inevitable hang-over this January 1st. You’ll need something to lay your weary head upon while you watch hours upon hours of standardized television in a vain attempt to subside that ever-present reminder of the night before. I find that the reading pillow is fantastic, na! – revolutionary product for these unproductive days. It allows for so many different sitting positions that would otherwise be very uncomfortable to do in bed. But not with this bad boy at your side, or should I say back.Â
But if you’re in the mood, or just simply incapacitated to the point where you would rather lay your day away, then the eco friendly therapeutic positioning body pillow it just the ticket. If you have not experienced the comfort, relaxation and down-right awesomeness of said body pillow then you are most certainly missing out, and the New Year is the perfect time to start new things!Â
Now if you just don’t have the energy to do anything, let alone get out of bed or watch television and you simply want to sleep in, but need to work around that pesky sun outside. Might I recommend the an eye pillow. Soft, silky and they will certainly keep out that light from your hung-over eyes there “day-walkerâ€! No matter how little or how much you will have to drink this coming New Year’s Eve, we have the pillows and comfort products to keep you in bed to enjoy or recuperate your day away. And for those that will immediately begin their NewYears resolution to relax, stop stressing and take better care of yourself, we have the perfect zafu meditation cushion.Â
To each and every one of our fantastic customers out there; Have a Great New Year, be safe and rest up!

New years is upon us and that means a lot of empty vague resolutions. Quit smoking, volunteer more, finally start learning that foreign language, ask that cute receptionist out, listen to your wife, eat healthier and work out more!
Well, here at MatsMatsMats.com, nothing makes us happier than people actually following through. Right around the new year, we get a flood of calls from people that are starting yoga, spin class, got a gym membership, cheerleading, you name it. A lot of people in the developed world live very (often needlessly) busy lives and as a result, personal improvement can seem like an unimportant facet. Well bah-humbug to the nay-sayers! This year, that spare tire is going on craiglist!
If your thing is Yoga and you need a yoga mat, we’ve got a LARGE and I mean LAAARGE variety of different yoga mats to meet all needs. Too sweaty? Try a natural rubber yoga mat. Purist? Try our Ashtanga rugs. Cheap? Get an 8-pack of studio mats for you and a few friends. Yoga is always more fun with friends. Let’s say you just want to dust off that treadmill but those imbecile downstairs neighbors insist on imposing THEIR idea of quiet time when it’s actually YOUR work-out time. What do you do? You slip a treadmill mat under that sucker and smooth sailing away. No more complaints, no more neighborly conflict, AND you feel good about it.
But what about the grown man that really just wants to be a gymnast. My first piece of advice is to see a chiropractor. My second piece of advice, is to get one of our folding cheerleading mats. These suckers are cheap, durable, and come in all colors! Don’t fret my unfit friends. If getting in shape is your goal this year, we got your sweet rump covered!

Do you love the Earth? Sure you do, and seeing as though it’s still here and all; so much for the Mayan Solstice Apocalypse what have you, I’d say we should keep the gears running and lean towards the more eco-friendly products side of the spectrum. We have plenty of Organic and Earth-Friendly products to satisfy both you and the ye ‘ol Madre of nature herself. We have natural rubber products, as well as PVC-free mats, all natural. If it’s eco friendly yoga products you crave, we most certainly have them in our roster including meditations supplies as well, such as meditation benches and pillows.
It doesn’t stop there, oh no! Our recycled rubber flooring and treadmill mat are all Mama Earth friendly as well. Whether you’re re-flooring your garage or basement or lining the roof of an industrial building; you can sleep a little sounder at night knowing that your carbon foot-print is just that bit smaller.
So since the earth does not quake, the seas do not overflow-eth and the sun is not turning us all into marshmallows at the moment, let’s give a little back and be a bit friendly to the old lady Gaia. To everyone, enjoy your time; enjoy each other and Happy Holidays!

I decided recently to pay a little more attention to a product that if it had feelings would probably feel neglected. Our Jo-Sha wipes are these personal cleansing wipes that contain pure essential oils and naturally cleanse and disinfect your hands or fitness equipment. These essential oil wipes are very big with the Yoga community because it’s 100% natural and has healing/soothing benefits of aromatherapy essential oils. But I think there are many other places for essential oil uses.
Now, because I have a soft spot for the underdog, I’m trying to figure out other ways these wipes might be beneficial. They really are great and I think if word got out, they might become as common as tissue in the house. The first place I thought of to use these was on kids toys. I watch my friends 3 year old son  that is forever putting his sticky boy hands all over everything and I’m a little reluctant to use your normal Clorox disinfectant wipes because I know how conscious his mom is of harmful chemicals.  Jo-Sha wipes would be perfect because I wouldn’t have to worry about pissing off my friend and they smell good.
In an effort to figure out other uses I gave some samples to Ro.Co.Co Salon in Santa Monica, CA. and asked the owner to let her stylists use them however they wish.  She said they were perfect for quickly wiping off their salon chairs and stations and the smells are so much better than the chemical smell you usually encounter.  This salon already has an inviting atmosphere and I’m guessing the variety of calming scents will only add the experience.
The last place I tried these wipes was in my car. If you eat and drive like I do, you probably get a sticky steering wheel every so often- these wipes are actually perfect size for a quick clean up. I also used them to get that oh so acidic bird poop off my paint, the natural ingredients didn’t hurt my paint job! The only downside to using these in my car is that it kind of un-shines everything. So, I don’t recommend using these as your primary cleaning tool.

I’ve been helping train the newest additions to our MatsMatsMats family, and they’re doing such an amazing job that I have a lot of down time. I’ve been killing time on our website just clicking away looking for anything that might important for my trainee.
I actually found yoga mats that I never knew we carried. Granted I don’t personally sell a lot of yoga props because I deal with more custom products, but I’m surprised when I do sell them, that it’s not more of our Terra Pure Yoga mats. They’re a different material than your traditional yoga mat, made with something called TPE or “thermal plastic elastomer†which is completely free of heavy metals, PVC and toxic material. I would think this would be a huge appeal to the yoga community. The Terra Pure Yoga Mats have two different textures on each side, which makes it super versatile, and it has closed cell foam which prevents absorption of moisture. You’ll get a good grip and comfort. The only downside to this mat is that it only comes in Ocean Blue.
I also noticed something else that is kind of cool, if you have a yoga class or even 100+ friends, our custom Deluxe Yoga Mats that come with and Embossed or Debossed logo are actually less expensive than purchasing just the Deluxe Yoga Mat. Yes, you have to by a quantity of 100 or more, but it breaks down to $14.95 per mat, including the logo and plate fee!! Just the mat by itself is $19.95.  So you can actually get a great custom mat for less money than a normal one.
