A simple solution that prevents erosion, prevents water from pooling and keeps your play area looking great are rubber swing mats and/or a playground slide mat.
Swing sets are great for kids, but they are not always so great for your landscaping. As kids swing, their feet scrape on the ground under the swing, destroying the ground cover and making the ground under the swing unlevel. These areas tend to accumulate water, adding to the deterioration and unattractiveness of the area. Well, there is now a solution, place a 3’ x 3’ x 2” thick rubber swing mat under the swing.
When using playground equipment slides are one of the hottest attractions. However, as kids slide down a slide they gradually push away the ground cover at the bottom of the slide, which can make that landing area unattractive and lead to erosion. The area collects water, which adds to the deterioration and unattractiveness of the area. The solution? Simply place a rubber slide mat at the bottom of the slide.
These mats are ideal for playgrounds or home use. They are made of 100% recycled rubber providing a non-slip surface that is easy to clean and maintain.

Wrestling Mats, Martial Arts Mats and/or high-end exercise mats are extremely expensive. They are also generally heavy and difficult to transport or store. There is now a new product on the market, Liteweight Wrestling Mats. These mats are manufactured in the USA with an exclusive, hot sprayed, polyvinyl paint coating. This provides a long-lasting and durable surface with the look, feel, and durability of a traditional mat surface. The 1-5/8” closed cell, cross-linked, polyethylene foam is ideal for absorbing impact and the flexible tambour slits on the bottom side allow for easy set-up.
These are currently the only wrestling mats to offer built in Microban® antimicrobial protection, which is designed to help protect the mat surface from the growth of stain and odor causing bacteria, mold and mildew. As a testament to the quality and durability of these mats, when purchased you receive a 3-year manufacturer guarantee.
All these characteristics make this an ideal wrestling mat for home use, club or anywhere else you want to practice, especially if portability and storage are a concern. Lightweight wrestling mats make a great wrestling mat for kids or adults alike.

That’s right, a Pennsylvania animal rights group bought Michael Vick’s house and transformed it into a rehabilitation center for dogs.
The newly opened Good Newz Rehab Center for Chained and Penned Dogs in rural Surry County is currently the home for nine dogs, and five more expected in the weeks ahead, said Thayne, founder and chief executive officer of Dogs Deserve Better Inc., which runs the center.
What does any of this have to do with mats? Dogs Deserve Better received a $10,000 grant to make the house more dog-friendly. They installed rubber flooring, added a dog door, bought tarps and fencing for yard areas so some dogs could stay outside during the day. All of the dogs sleep inside at night. The carpeting has been removed from the living room and master bedroom floors and replaced with sealed rubber flooring, frequently used in veterinarian offices and as doggy daycare flooring.
This used to be the home of Michael Vick’s dog-fighting operation called Bad Newz Kennels. Vick was at the peak of his career with the Atlanta Falcons when he pleaded guilty to federal felony conspiracy charges related to the dog-fighting ring in August of 2007. He served almost two years in federal prison, followed by two months of in-home confinement, before he began rebuilding his football career as a Philadelphia Eagle. Michael Vick is now the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and is supposed to be one of the top performing quarterbacks in the NFL this year.

Dogs need their exercise too! Recycled rubber flooring rolls are commonly found on the floors throughout health clubs / gyms, but it is also often used to create durable and easy to clean doggy daycare flooring that is safe for your pets. This dog safe flooring was exactly what a new doggy daycare facility in Ohio purchased from MatsMatsMats.com. It was easy to install and they were so happy with the end result. In fact, they were so pleased that MatsMatsMats.com was asked to be a guest on a local morning radio show discussing the grand opening.
So, on May 7, 2011 Alex Miller, A MatsMatsMats.com sales representative, was interviewed during the Saturday morning “A Firm Foundation Show with Rick and Jackie” heard on AM1470. Among other things, he discussed the rubber flooring supplied to Pocos Playhouse (an of-leash daycare environment for dogs in Ohio). The broadcast was done live from Pocos and Alex Miller called into the show and spoke to the hosts for about 25 minutes.

If you purchase a large treadmill (or a standard size treadmill with a large base), an elliptical, or any other type of large exercise equipment, finding a mat can be difficult. A standard size treadmill mat or exercise equipment mat is 3’ wide and 6.5’ long… so if you require exercise equipment mats longer or wider they can often cost a fortune (if you can find one).
There is now an affordable solution – an extra larger rubber treadmill mat measuring 4’ wide and 7’6” long. This durable mat is made of 100% premium recycled rubber, so it’s eco-friendly too. It’s generally in stock, so you don’t need to wait weeks or longer for a custom mat to be produced (although if you have that time and require a larger treadmill mat or exercise equipment mat, custom size mats can be made for you).
These rubber mats provide resilience, sound absorption, spike resistance and traction. Rubber treadmill mats offer excellent performance, durability, and appearance. So, whether you need an extra large treadmill mat for home or commercial use, there is now a quality, in stock, eco-friendly solution waiting for you.

Protect your floors and carpets from damage due to heavy and awkward exercise equipment. Exercise Equipment Mats are specifically designed for cement or hardwood floors, as well as carpet. These equipment mats (such as treadmill mats, bike/stepper mats, elliptical mats, Bowflex machines, stair machines, free weights/dumbells, etc.) will reduce noise and vibrations, while also protecting your floors.
Additionally, by using exercise equipment mats you will extend the life of your equipment by preventing floor debris, carpet fibers, and dust from entering belts, motors and mechanical parts. This will alleviate expensive repairs to equipment and your floors.
Equipment mats are available in various thicknesses (e.g. 1/4″ or 3/8″). They are also offered as rubber equipment mats or vinyl mats. In addition to the standard sizes, custom sizes are also available if desired.

I’ve thought about even using one of my wife’s exercise mats to protect my knees while I’m kneeling down to either change a flat tire, screw cement board down as sub-flooring before laying tiles, or for some other such purpose, but I’m not THAT crazy! My wife would NOT be too thrilled about such a stunt, and I would have to either admit my error, or utter something like, “Well my knees are being sacrificed to this project; can’t you maybe buy me one of those kneeling pads, or maybe even a two-foot square tile of gym flooring?” I doubt I’d be met with much sympathy, but…the thought has crossed my mind!
It’s true, exercise mats, like my wife’s Pilate’s mats, probably shouldn’t be used for kneeling down on concrete driveways, or even concrete backer boards, as those rough surfaces could really scratch them up. But many of such exercise mats are made of materials that are recycled and are not harmful to the earth’s eco system, as well as being non-allergenic.

I have been doing some home renovations today, and I often thought about how I would have LOVED to have a kneeling pad to preserve my knees! I’ve been kneeling on hard, half-inch thick, cement board used as underlayment beneath ceramic tiles, and my knees are rather sore now. I also think just one of these mini jumbo, EVA foam floor tiles would work well as a kneeling pad, as they are 2’ x 2’ square; the jumbo, 4’ x 4’, interlocking gym flooring tiles would be much too large for just kneeling on.
I know…these foam flooring tiles are not really intended to be used as kneeling pads, and are classified as exercise flooring, but let me tell you, when you’ve been on your hands and knees, on concrete sub-flooring [tile backer], for several hours, you begin dreaming about something—ANYTHING—softer to kneel, sit, crouch, and maybe even take a nap on!

You gotta love the creative ways people come up with useful applications of surgical tubing! Take a look at the photo here of these resistance tubes, also sometimes called resistance bands, even though tubes are typically much stronger—and provide higher resistance—than mere bands. Of all the exercise products available, these are among the most versatile and useful.
You’ve seen surgical tubing used, undoubtedly, for those high-powered slingshots often called “wrist rockets.” The elastic tubing is terrifically strong, providing resistance perfect for a wide variety of workout situations. These are truly a must for the person serious about physical fitness whether aerobic or even strength training. I’d say these are as important to the cardio conscious individual as workout gloves are to the person “pumping iron.”
